Dear Scholars, Judges (Session Co-Chairs) and Participants,
Cheers for our successful PEOPLE 2024 Virtual Symposium — We brought together 114 students and young professionals who gave 79 oral presentations in 16 technical sessions. This year’s event provided a unique opportunity for them to exchange ideas and findings, practise communication skills and grow collaboration and networks. We thank all the participants and the supporters especially including the supervisors of these students and YPs!

- First Place: Muhammad Qasim Mahmood (University of Prince Edward Island), “Evaluating Hydrological Dynamics for Sustainable Groundwater Management Using An Advanced Time Series Model”
- Second Place: Yuanmei Zhang (Memorial University), “Temperature-Induced Biodegradation of Plastics in Marine Environments”
- Third Place: He Peng (Concordia University), “Impact of the Red Sea Crisis on Carbon Emissions and Maritime Carbon Pricing”
Looking ahead, we are excited to share that the planning for the PEOPLE 2025 International Conference is already underway. The call for abstracts will be released soon. We look forward to welcoming you next summer (tentatively July 14-18) in St. John’s for another inspiring gathering. Stay tuned for more updates!
