Call for Abstracts: PEOPLE 2022 International Conference (hybrid), August 23-26, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
We warmly welcome you to the PEOPLE 2022 International Conference on Persistent, Emerging, and Organic Pollution in the Environment – Challenges and Solutions under Climate Change on August 23-26, 2022, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. This is a hybrid event co-organized by the PEOPLE Network (Memorial University), the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation (University of Prince Edward Island), the Sigma Academy, Center for Catastrophic Risk Management (University of California, Berkeley), the Canadian Association on Water Quality Atlantic Region, and the Journal of Environmental Systems Research (Springer). This is also an annual conference of the Network on the Persistent, Emerging, and Organic PoLution in the Environment (PEOPLE Network), funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

New Dates Announced for IOSSC 2022: October 4-7, 2022
The International Oil Spill Science Conference 2022 (IOSSC 2022) announced new conference dates, postponing to October 4-7, with the ongoing rise in COVID-19 and full respect for the impact on attendees. This date change will facilitate in-person networking and great discussion about the latest research in the field of oil spill science including spill prevention, contingency planning, and environmental rehabilitation. IOSSC 2022 will still be a hybrid event, comprising both in-person (Halifax) and virtual sessions. Abstracts can be submitted online before June 17, 2022.

Professor Elvis Genbo Xu Joined the Editorial Board of Frontier, WEC&N, and FESE
Dr. Elvis Genbo Xu is appointed as Associate Editor of Frontiers in Toxicology in the new section Environmental Toxicology. He also has recently joined the Editorial Board of Water Emerging Contaminants & Nanoplastics and the Youth Editorial Board of Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering. Dr. Xu is an Assistant Professor and Sapere Aude Research Leader in the Department of Biology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Denmark. His research specialized in environmental toxicology, ecotoxicology, toxicogenomics, nanoplastic, microplastic, oil spill, endocrine disruptors, and antibiotics. His recent findings of micro-and nanoplastics have been covered by 300+ global media. He has published 75 peer-reviewed articles in Acc Chem Res, PNAS, ES&T, ES&T Lett, ES Nano, J Hazard Mater, CEJ, etc., with 4 ESI Highly Cited Papers and 2 Hot Papers.

Dr. Faisal Khan
Dr. Faisal Khan is Mike O’Connor II Chair Professor and Director of Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. He is former Professor and Canada Research Chair (Tier I) of Offshore Safety and Risk Engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He is the founder of the Centre for Risk Integrity and Safety and Engineering, which have over research 100 research members. His research interest areas include offshore safety, drilling safety, extreme event modelling, asset integrity and risk engineering. He is the recipient of the many National and International Awards. He is Fellow of the Canada Academy of Engineering. He has authored over 500 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and mentored 72 PhDs and 84 master students. He is Editor-in-Chief to the Journal of Process Safety & Environmental Protection and Safety in Harsh Environments.
Dr. Rehan Sadiq
Dr. Sadiq is a Professor of Civil Engineering and Distinguished University Scholar at the University of British Columbia, and currently holds a Provost and VP Academic Pro tem position at UBC Okanagan campus. He is also a co-director of Digital Learning Factory Initiative and a co-lead of Life Cycle Management Laboratory at UBC.
Dr. Sadiq is a world-leading researcher in the areas of asset management of water supply systems, environmental risk analysis and lifecycle assessment of built environment. He is an author of more than 600 peer-reviewed journal and conference articles, book chapters and technical reports. The citations for his research work reach to ~16K, which place him among top 100 most cited civil engineering researchers globally. He is also consistently included among top 2% scientists in the category of environmental science. He has served and chaired numerous Canadian and international scientific committees and conferences. Dr. Sadiq sits on the editorial board of many international journals in his field of research.
Dr. Sadiq is registered as a Professional Engineer since 2010. He is also a Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering (FCAE), Canadian Society of Civil Engineering (FCSE), Engineers Canada (FEC) and Engineering Institute of Canada (FEIC).
